How to Refund Fortnite Skins and Items

On this page

To refund a Fortnite skin, use Cancel Purchase if you've only just bought it by mistake, or a Return Ticket if it's been longer. Both are self-service options for Item Shop purchases made with V-Bucks. They return V-Bucks, not real money.

Option 1: Cancel Purchase

Cancel Purchase is Epic's quick undo for a mistaken Item Shop purchase. You can cancel until 24 hours have passed or you've equipped the item in gameplay, whichever comes first, and each item can only be cancelled once. Find it under Return or cancel purchase in Support and Refunds.

Option 2: Return Tickets

Return Tickets are for changing your mind later:

  • Each account starts with three Return Tickets. You get one new ticket 365 days after the last one was added, and you can hold three at most.
  • Items must have been bought with V-Bucks within the last 30 days.
  • The V-Bucks you paid go back to your balance.

Tickets come back slowly, so don't use one on an impulse. Keep at least one in reserve for a genuine mistake.

How to use a Return Ticket

  1. Select your Player Icon and open the menu.
  2. Choose Support and Refunds.
  3. Choose Return or cancel purchase, then Return Purchases.
  4. Select the item and follow the prompts.

Menu names can change between seasons. If you can't find this, check Epic's official refund page.

What you can't return

Refunds through these tools are for Item Shop items bought with V-Bucks. These don't qualify:

  • V-Bucks themselves, as they aren't Item Shop purchases.
  • Older purchases, outside the time window.
  • Gifts, which Epic says are non-refundable.
  • Items bought with real money and purchases made in developer-made islands.
  • Passes and Pass levels, according to third-party guides.

Also check that you actually want to give up the item. Returning one removes it from your locker.

Refunding real money

Return Tickets won't give you cash. If you paid for V-Bucks or a subscription with real money, contact Epic Support, or the store you bought from: PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Apple or Google may each handle this differently. Epic says Fortnite Crew subscriptions bought directly from Epic can't be refunded.

For a child's accidental purchase, contact the payment provider and Epic Support as soon as possible. Then consider adding parental controls.

Be careful with fake "refund" sites. Epic's official help pages and the in-game menu are the only places you need.

How to avoid needing a refund

  • Preview the skin in the shop before you buy.
  • Consider whether it's an impulse. Many items return to the shop later.
  • Only keep enough V-Bucks on hand for what you plan to buy. See our V-Bucks prices guide.

FAQ

How many refunds do you get in Fortnite? Up to three Return Tickets at a time. You start with three and regain one every 365 days. Cancel Purchase is separate.

Do you get your tickets back? Not straight away, but you get a new one every 365 days, up to three. Epic Support can't grant extra tickets.

Can I get real money back for V-Bucks? Not through Return Tickets. Contact Epic Support or the store where you made the purchase.
