How to Get V-Bucks: Prices, Best Value and Free Options

You get V-Bucks by buying packs, by subscribing to Fortnite Crew or by earning them from the Battle Pass, which pays back its full 800 V-Bucks cost if you finish it. The free track also includes some V-Bucks, reported at around 200 to 300 a season. Any site offering unlimited free V-Bucks is a scam.
Prices below are US prices as reported in October 2026. Check the in-game store for your country, because they vary by region and platform.
V-Bucks prices and best value
Epic changed the packs on 19 March 2026, so older guides will show different amounts.
| Pack | US price | Cost per 1,000 V-Bucks |
|---|---|---|
| 800 V-Bucks | $8.99 | $11.24 |
| 2,400 V-Bucks | $22.99 | $9.58 |
| 4,500 V-Bucks | $36.99 | $8.22 |
| 12,500 V-Bucks | $89.99 | $7.20 |
The biggest pack is the best deal per V-Buck, but only buy it if you'll really spend it. For one Battle Pass, the 800 pack is all you need.
The cheapest way to keep getting V-Bucks
Buy one Battle Pass and finish it. It costs 800 V-Bucks and contains 800 V-Bucks in total, so the next pass costs you no extra V-Bucks if you earn all 800 before it arrives. This works for as long as Epic keeps the current pricing, which last changed in March 2026.
This takes play time, so see how to level up fast if you tend to run out of season. Current costs:
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Battle Pass | 800 V-Bucks |
| Battle Pass with first 25 levels | 2,600 V-Bucks |
| OG Pass | 800 V-Bucks |
| Music Pass | 1,200 V-Bucks |
| LEGO Pass | 1,200 V-Bucks |
| One extra level | 150 V-Bucks |
Skip the bundle unless you're close to the end of a season and missing a reward you want. It costs more than three times the pass alone.
Is Fortnite Crew worth it?
Fortnite Crew costs $11.99 a month in the US. It includes 800 V-Bucks, the Battle Pass, OG Pass, LEGO Pass, Music Pass, Rocket Pass Premium and a monthly outfit.
- Worth it if you play every month and would buy two or more passes anyway. The 800 V-Bucks alone cost $8.99, so you pay $3 more for the rest.
- Not worth it if you only play the odd month, as you can buy a single pass when a season appeals.
If you cancel, you keep rewards you've earned, but new subscribers can only claim premium rewards until the current billing period ends.
Free V-Bucks that actually exist
- Free Battle Pass track: reported at around 200 to 300 V-Bucks per season. Check the current pass in-game.
- Epic events or promotions: these turn up occasionally. Trust them only if they're announced on Fortnite's official channels or shown in the game.
Older Save the World Founders accounts and Microsoft Rewards credit are the main exceptions. Otherwise there's no hidden trick. The paid Battle Pass isn't on this list, because its 800 V-Bucks only pay back what you spent on it.
How to spot V-Bucks scams
Treat all of these as scams:
- Generators that ask for your username and promise instant V-Bucks.
- Sites that make you complete surveys or download an app first.
- Anyone asking for your password or 2FA code, including people claiming to be Epic staff.
- Cheap V-Bucks from unofficial resellers, which may use stolen cards. Purchases like that can be reversed, and your account could be caught up in it.
Official gift cards from known shops are fine. Before you do anything else, turn on two-factor authentication.

FAQ
How much is 1,000 V-Bucks? No standard pack contains exactly 1,000 now. At the pack rates above, 1,000 V-Bucks works out to between $7.20 and $11.24.
Does the Battle Pass really pay for itself? Yes, if you claim all of its V-Bucks rewards, which takes a lot of levels. It won't if you stop part way through.
Are V-Bucks generators real? No. V-Bucks are held on Epic's servers, so an outside website can't add them to your account.
