Rarest Fortnite Skins in 2026, Checked Against Shop History

October 30, 2026 · 4 min read

On this page

The rarest Fortnite skins today are the ones that can't be bought at all: early Battle Pass rewards such as Black Knight and The Reaper, and hardware promos such as Galaxy and IKONIK. Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper, long seen as the rarest of all, have been sold in the Item Shop repeatedly since December 2024.

How this list was checked

Most "rarest skins" lists are opinion, and they disagree with each other. This one uses shop records from Fortnite-API, a community database of Fortnite cosmetics, as of 30 October 2026.

No one outside Epic knows how many players own each skin, so this list measures availability, not ownership. A skin that never reached the shop is locked to people who earned it at the time. A "0" below means the database has no shop date, which is strong evidence but not proof from Epic.

Skins with no recorded shop appearance

Skin Rarity Introduced How it was earned
Black Knight Legendary Chapter 1, Season 2 Season 2 Battle Pass
Sparkle Specialist Epic Chapter 1, Season 2 Season 2 Battle Pass
Blue Squire Rare Chapter 1, Season 2 Season 2 Battle Pass
Royale Knight Rare Chapter 1, Season 2 Season 2 Battle Pass
The Reaper Legendary Chapter 1, Season 3 Season 3 Battle Pass
Dire Legendary Chapter 1, Season 6 Season 6 Battle Pass
Galaxy Epic Chapter 1, Season 5 Samsung device promotion
IKONIK Epic Chapter 1, Season 8 Samsung device promotion
Glow Legendary Chapter 1, Season X Samsung device promotion
Wonder Epic Chapter 1, Season 9 Honor device promotion
Honor Guard Epic Chapter 1, Season 7 Honor device promotion
Double Helix Epic Chapter 1, Season 6 Nintendo Switch bundle
Wildcat Epic Chapter 2, Season 4 Nintendo Switch bundle

Black Knight outfit in Fortnite

Black Knight is the usual pick for rarest Battle Pass skin, because it sat at the top of a pass from December 2017, when far fewer people played. Galaxy and IKONIK are the best-known promo skins, as getting them meant buying a specific phone or tablet.

Skins that were sold only briefly

Skin Shop dates on record Last recorded
Rogue Agent 1 15 September 2018
Reflex 2 4 March 2019
Sideline Commander 1 6 December 2023
Travis Scott 6 27 April 2020
Codename E.L.F. 11 31 January 2018
Galactico 12 27 September 2021

Rogue Agent came from the Season 3 Starter Pack, then appeared in the shop once, in September 2018. It has no recorded shop date since then.

Codename E.L.F. is the surprise here. It's a cheap-looking holiday skin that hasn't been recorded in the shop since January 2018, which makes it far harder to get than its Rare label suggests.

"Rare" skins that came back

These still have an OG reputation, but they're available often enough that they no longer belong at the top of any list.

Skin Shop dates on record Last recorded
Renegade Raider 84 31 January 2026
Aerial Assault Trooper 84 31 January 2026
Ghoul Trooper 96 15 October 2026
Recon Expert 122 31 August 2026
Merry Marauder 91 19 July 2026
Nog Ops 74 15 July 2026

Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper's records start on 20 December 2024, so the original versions were out of reach for about seven years before that. If you've owned one since 2017, it's still a nice piece of history, though the skin itself is no longer scarce.

Could a rare skin come back?

Yes, and that's the main risk in calling anything permanently exclusive. Epic has brought back several skins people assumed were gone for good. It also now allows Battle Pass items from Chapter 5 Season 4 onward to return at least 18 months after their pass ends. Every Battle Pass skin in the first table is older than that, and we found no Epic announcement of plans to bring them back, but no guarantee that it never will.

What makes an account valuable

Rare skins matter most when they're in a real collection. To see what yours looks like, try our Fortnite account value calculator.

Selling or sharing an account is against Epic's rules, and it can cost you the account. Treat any value as a bit of fun, not as a price you could get. If you're worried about losing your skins, turn on two-factor authentication.

FAQ

What is the rarest skin in Fortnite? There's no official answer. Black Knight is the strongest pick among Battle Pass skins, while Galaxy and IKONIK are the strongest among promo skins.

Is Renegade Raider still rare? It's still an old skin, but it's no longer scarce. It has 84 recorded shop dates since December 2024.

Can you still get Black Knight? Not through any route on record. It has no recorded shop appearance, and buying someone else's account breaks Epic's rules.
